Initially conceived as a documentary about presidential transitions of power in the modern era, production of The Sixth was upended when the Change Content team lost contact with a cinematographer covering Trump’s farewell rally on January 6, 2021. In the weeks and months that followed, the focus of the film was shifted entirely onto the shocking events of the insurrection.

From Oscar, Emmy, and Peabody Award winning filmmakers Sean and Andrea Nix Fine, The Sixth is a visceral, minute-by-minute retelling of the attack on the US Capitol, as told through the firsthand perspectives of six public servants whose lives were forever changed by the events of that day.

Released on May 3, 2024, The Sixth was recognized with a News & Documentary Emmy Award for Outstanding Government and Politics Documentary, as well as a nomination in the category of Outstanding Documentary.
